FAIRY TALES
▶︎ The 2G Fairy Tales & Myth arc started with fairy tales
The structure provided by NY Engage was most helpful for the “formal, instructional” pieces.
We did not use all their suggestions: we only used “The Fisherman & His Wife” and “Beauty & The Best”
But— we used the NY Engage structure when adding our own fairy tales (e.g., Cinderella, fairy tales of your choosing) and creating “formal instruction”
Note: we also used the NY Engage materials for Greek and Hindu myths
Many fairy tales pop up in World Tales, one of which was read every Morning Circle.
After playing “Going to the Moon” (to develop memory for story details)
Quick discussions can touch on what’s been learned during the “formal, instruction” pieces (e.g., FT vs. myth, character, setting, etc.)

“The Fisherman & His Wife” — teacher guide
“Beauty & The Beast” (Parts 1 & 2) — teacher guide

“Beauty & The Beast” — the live action version (Disney)
“Cinderella” — the live-action film directed by Kenneth Branaugh (Disney)
▶︎ NY Engage materials: complete
There’s a lot to read in the complete NY Engage materials.
Worth skimming, but it’s a bit overkill and way too much to fit into a busy 2G day!
Note: While 2G tried using the “tall tales” for a few years, we eventually dropped them.

There are two more NY Engage manuals! We’ve never used them, but happy to forward if you’re dying for more!
